Renata Villers

(United States) Social Changemaker based in Costa Rica.
Renata Villers is a social change maker based in Costa Rica, where she founded and runs ADA, an NGO transforming the way children learn to read and write to support their active participation in the knowledge society. ADA facilitates online teacher professional development; a national children’s writing contest, and ProLEER a network of researchers, practitioners, and policymakers committed to improving language and literacy practice and policy in Latin America. Prior to ADA, she worked as a strategy and training consultant, with clients like INBio, the International Financial Corporation, and the Asian Development Bank.

She serves on a number of advisory boards including UWC and is a Fellow of the Aspen Global Leadership Network. Renata is an economics graduate of Harvard College and holds an MBA from the Columbia Business School. She is currently completing a Master's degree in International Education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. She is a nature enthusiast, avid hiker, and parent of two UWC graduates.
