Leonor Tannhauser Blum

(United States, Argentina) Executive Director, Adelante Latina! Foundation. Professor Emeritus, Notre Dame of Maryland University.
Leonor Blum was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and received her college and graduate education in the United States. With a graduate degree in journalism from Columbia University, she wrote extensively about Latin American history, economics, politics, and human rights issues. Two kids later and with a Masters in Latin American Studies from the Johns Hopkins School for International  Studies (SAIS), she taught Latin American history and politics at Notre Dame of Maryland University. Her passion for travel and experiential learning led her to organize student service-learning trips to Guatemala, Honduras,  Peru, Cuba, and Ghana. In 2013, she retired from teaching at the college level and started Adelante Latina!, an after-school, college-prep program for underprivileged Latina girls in Baltimore. 95% of the students who complete the three years at Adelante Latina! attend college. Leonor became enamored with United World Colleges after several visits to the UWC-USA campus and when she mentored several outstanding UWC scholars at Notre Dame.
