Distinctive Educational Model

Experiential Learning plays an important role in UWC Costa Rica. In our students’ academic life, we encourage learning through doing and experiencing the subject matter first-hand wherever possible. This can happen during field trips, simulations, and other authentic learning opportunities.

Recent academic field trips and experiential learning opportunities for students have included:
  • National Theatre performance visit for Spanish Language and Literature
  • Ecological and conservation field explorations for Sistemas Ambientales and Environmental Systems
  • Theater performances for Theater and English Literature
  • Art galleries and museum trips in Visual Arts
  • A mock trial for Hitler in History
  • Regular ethical debates in Theory of Knowledge/Teoría del Conocimiento
  • Annual Model United Nations Conference held on-site
