  • Costs

Registration fees are an all-inclusive fee and include all food and beverages, official reunion activities, on-campus lodging costs for 4 nights and 5 days with check-out on noon on Monday, July 31, airport shuttle from and to the airport, and a reunion gift.

    Tier Registration Model
The cost per person for registration is $250 USD.  However, those who can pay more for the reunion are encouraged to do so to support those who are on a tighter budget.  This is why we have 3 registration price options:
    • $200 USD—subsidized by the higher registration tier.
    • $250 USD—cost of the reunion per person.
    • $300 USD—helps to subsidize the low registration tier.

This Tier Registration Model was proposed and created by the Reunion Committee to make the reunion inclusive and fair.

The Low Registration Tier is dependent on the Help-A-Friend registration subsidies available.  Email alumnicoordinator@uwccostarica.org to request your Low Registration discount code.

    Please note:
Alcohol is not included in your registration fee, except for 2 courtesy drinks at our Welcome Cocktail on Thursday, July 27.  You can purchase alcohol off-campus and bring it back with you.  Please refer to the Reunion Code of Conduct Section for a brief note on alcohol consumption at the Reunion.
  • Lodging Options

All Reunion attendees will stay at our Santa Ana campus in one of our 8 Residences. We have 3 room options available for you to choose from in the Registration Form linked in your payment confirmation email:
    • Family Room - Alumni traveling to the reunion with a partner and/or children should select this rooming option.  This will guarantee you a room of your own—for the family to share—in a residence reserved for families only.
    • Partner’s Room - Alumni attending the reunion with a partner/spouse should select this rooming option.  This will guarantee your stay in your own room—shared by the couple only.
    • Single’s Room - Alumni attending the reunion on their own should select this rooming option. Depending on your room assignment, you will be sharing the room with one or two of your peers. You can name your roommate preference(s) in the Registration Form linked in your Payment Confirmation email.

    Please note:
    • Alumni who fail to complete the Registration Form linked in your payment confirmation will automatically be assigned to a Single’s Room.
    • There is no extra charge for our lodging options as partners and children also pay a registration fee.
    • If your height is above 1,90 meters, please indicate so in the Registration Form linked in your payment confirmation so we can provide a comfortable bed.
    • If you or anyone in your party need special accommodations for your stay on campus due to mobility restrictions, disabilities, and/or special needs, please describe them in the Registration Form linked in your payment confirmation. If you are concerned or want to provide us with more details, please write to alumnicoordinator@uwccostarica.org as soon as possible so we may work together to ensure the best reunion experience for you and your guests.

  • Transportation

On Thursday, July 27, 2023, during the afternoon, 2 shuttles will be available from the Juan Santamaría airport to campus. Times will be announced in July.

On Monday, July 31, 2023, shuttles will be available from campus to the airport at 5:30 am and 11 am.

Fill out this form once you've got your plane tickets ready!
  • Travel Arrangements

The reunion begins on Thursday, July 27 at 6:30 pm with our Welcome Cocktail. Registration opens at 2 pm. Rooms won’t be available until registration begins. The reunion concludes on Sunday night. You may check out on Monday, July 31 no later than noon.
We recommend booking your flight early flying into SJO—Juan Santamaría airport. UWC Costa Rica will offer 2 shuttles from SJO on Thursday. On Monday, shuttles will depart from campus to the airport at 5:30 am and 11 am.

If you don’t take the UWC Costa Rica shuttle, you may rent a car from the airport, take the official orange airport taxis, take public transportation, and/or UBER. We also recommend sharing rides with other attendees. Please use the Reunion Facebook Event Page to coordinate ride-sharing.

If you are planning to travel in Costa Rica before or after the reunion and are looking for things to do, we recommend checking out the Visit Costa Rica website.
  • Visa Applications

Costa Rica is tourist-friendly country. Though most nationalities allow for a tourist visa of up to 3 months, there are some nationalities that do require a Visa to enter the country.  We can provide a letter of invitation to apply for it. You can check here if you need a visa to enter Costa Rica.
If you need a letter of invitation to apply for your Costa Rica Visa, please email alumnicoordinator@uwccostarica.org with the following information:
    1. Your name, birth date, and passport number as it appears on your passport
    2. The name(s) and birth date as it appears on their passport of any family member(s) traveling with you
    3. The name and address of the embassy/consulate that you will submit this letter to
  • International Health Insurance

We highly recommend that you purchase travel medical insurance for your trip to UWC Costa Rica so you can be protected in case of an accident. The UWC Costa Rica insurance covers a paramedic evaluation for visitors on campus, but will not cover you if you need to be taken to a medical center off-campus. Those expenses would need to be covered either by yourself or your international health insurance.
  • Special Arrangements for Children

There will be kid/family-friendly activities planned throughout the reunion weekend. Children who are not potty trained must be accompanied by an adult.
Families will be assigned a private room to share with 3 twin beds or 2 bunk beds.  If needed, portable cribs can be provided for small children—pending availability—but they must be requested by May 1, 2023, via email at alumnicoordinator@uwccostarica.org. These will be assigned on a first-come-first-served basis.

For children under 1-year-old, we expect they are primarily on formula or breast milk, and their registration fee reflects this assumption. We anticipate that children aged 1 to 15 will eat the same food as adults at the reunion, and we do not provide special meals for children. You may want to pack your child’s favorite snacks. If your child has special dietary needs, make sure to note them in the registration form, email us at alumnicoordinator@uwccostarica.org or bring the food that they will eat with you. Keep in mind that supermarkets and specialty stores in Santa Ana carry products for most diets. We will have high chairs available for your use.  Activities and toys will be available during the day.

Childcare is available at an additional cost and can be requested by May 1, 2023, via email at alumnicoordinator@uwccostarica.org
  • What to Pack

Weather in Santa Ana is usually warm and sunny.  However, July is part of the transition to our rainy season, so you should expect some heavy rains—especially in the afternoons!

Most of the activities in the Reunion program will be pretty casual, but you might want to dress up for our Welcome Cocktail or our Dinner with Staff on Friday, July 28. We suggest you bring comfortable clothes and shoes to walk around Santa Ana and for our day trip to San Isidro, where some light hiking can be expected.  There will also be space for sports games like Ultimate Frisbee and soccer, so don’t forget your running shoes! San Isidro has cooler weather than Santa Ana, so a hoodie is encouraged.

The College will provide linens and pillows. Bring your towel, shampoo, and other toiletries.  We will have sunscreen and bug repellent available, but if you have a preferred brand, you should bring your own.  If you forget something, don’t worry! Palí is still around the corner. You are welcome to come and go from campus as you wish during the reunion.

A Bonfire or Open Mic might be on the program. Bring an instrument, and get ready to share your talents to make new memories!
  • Reunion Code of Conduct

Health and Safety Protocols - Face masks will not be required at the Reunion.  At UWC Costa Rica, everyone is empowered to mask at any time, for any reason, and should do so freely, trusting that no other person will question or criticize their choice.

Campus Safety - UWC Costa Rica visitors shall not engage in anti-social behavior including, but not limited to, harassment, discriminatory behavior, theft, vandalism, or disrespecting another community member.

Visitors may not bring illegal/illicit drugs or any kind of weapon to campus. Any Reunion participant suspected to be under the influence of illegal/illicit drugs will not be allowed on campus and/or be asked to leave the Reunion.

If a visitor endangers the physical, emotional, sexual, cyber, or faith well-being of another person or the community, they will be asked to leave campus immediately, with security being called to remove them if needed. For alumni, a severe infraction like this during an official College event may carry a temporary or permanent suspension of visiting privileges for the alumni, to be communicated by the school’s Deputy Head via email.

Costa Rican authorities may be called upon as needed and appropriate. Visitors will be liable for any damages willfully caused to the school or the personal property of others on campus.

Alcohol Consumption - Reunion attendees will be allowed to bring alcoholic beverages to campus.  We expect all Reunion guests to practice responsible alcohol consumption.  If a Reunion guest becomes disruptive, violent, or a hazard to themselves or others because of their alcohol consumption, they will be asked to leave the Reunion or not be granted entrance to campus if they are showing these behaviors upon re-entry.

Disclaimer. UWC Costa Rica reserves the right to revise and change this policy as needed. Changes will be published on our website
